The defender is set to be included in the squad against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
"Everyone knows I've been out for a long time with a broken ankle", said Hunt. "I spoke to my Manager - who knows Danny Wilson well - its an opportunity to get some games and fitness back.
"I know it's a passionate club, being at Huddersfield, and it's a tough place to come.
"I can't wait to pull the shirt on. I didn't have long to think about it but I didn't need long."
Hunt suffered from a broken ankle in training shortly after securing a move to Crystal Palace from Huddersfield last summer, but will have no qualms about going in for a tough tackle.
"I'm delighted to get it (loan deal) done," he continued. "I need to be patient and not rush myself. I'm still getting a few little pains but the ankle is healed. It's going to be hard to last 90 minutes in my first game, but I know what the Championship is like.
"You've got to get on with it. I've done a lot of running. I feel very good. You can do all the running in the world but if you get out on the pitch it's a different type of fitness. I'm a naturally fit lad anyway.
"I was only going to come here for a month, but I wanted to come for the rest of the season. I'm from up north, and I'm expecting my firs child in April. It's the best of both worlds because I can get some games and my child will be born up north."
Jack has been allocated squad number 12.
