Jack Hunt Joins Reds On Loan

Palace Defender Joins Barnsley

Barnsley have completed the loan signing of Crystal Palace right-back Jack Hunt on a deal until the end of the season.

Reds Manager Danny Wilson was forced back into the loan market after Liverpool loanee Ryan McLaughlin suffered a tear to his hamstring.

The Barnsley boss told barnsleyfc.co.uk, "Ryan (McLaughlin) had a scan earlier this week and it revealed a tear, which means he'll be out for a minimum of four weeks, which is very unfortunate. We've had to look elsewhere because we have a lot of big games coming up.

"For what’s available at this moment in time, Jack’s head and shoulders above everyone else," continued Wilson. "He’s been injured for a while and is short of match practice but we know enough about him to know what a terrific player he is."

The defender made 120 appearances for Huddersfield - where he turned professional - and he was snapped up by Crystal Palace in August after continually impressing for the Terriers.

"He has terrific pace, defends well and passes it well and is an attack-minded full-back," added Wilson. "He’s very similar to young Ryan but with more experience."
