Danny's Blackpool Reaction

18 January 2014

Reds Manager Danny Wilson gave his thoughts following today's 2-0 victory over Blackpool.

"I don't think it's relief, I think from where we are we fully deserved it," said Danny. "To get three points at this stage is a fantastic return. We have made people aware that we aren't going to lay down and that we're fighting.

"That middle order in the table will be looking over their shoulders.

"More importantly - about ourselves - I thought we deserved the three points.

"Possibly we could have done better with our counter-attacking but I thought we looked in control at most times in the game.

"It is tough job. But it's not just ourselves. We're not cut adrift. There's only a couple of wins at most that get us back in there.

"It's a tough job because it's a tough league. It's such a tough league that results will change from week to week.

"It's easy to say now, but I've said this all week - that we've had a great week, the lads have trained brilliantly. The new lads have given us a lift and a spark. All that added together was going to give us a good result today.

"Thankfully, the lads who came back into the team like (Dale) Jennings, Brek (Shea) and young Ryan (McLaughlin) - I thought they were all outstanding. There were a lot of good performances today, they've all contributed."

Chris O'Grady got both goals either side of half time from the spot and then a great header to give Danny's side the points.

"That's Chris all over for you," continued Danny. "He's a terrific pro. When you see him train week in, week out - you wonder how he's not scoring. They go through lean patches, strikers.

"We'll hopefully do some business next week that will, hopefully, help Chris."

Dale Jennings completed 90 minutes at Oakwell for the first time and was labelled man of the match by his Manager, "I've seen Dale many, many times. He's certainly come back top form. His attitude in training has been top form and he does catch your eye. If a player throws the gauntlet down at me, I can't ignore him."
