Charlie's Big Challenge calls at Oakwell

21 January 2014

250 miles, 7 days, 40 football clubs

TV presenter Charlie Webster will visit Barnsley FC on Wednesday 29th January 2014 as part of her Big Challenge to raise funds for domestic violence charity Women's Aid and show that English football stands united against domestic violence.

Charlie's Big Challenge is a charity running event like no other. Over 7 days Charlie will run a staggering 250 miles, beginning at Burton Albion FC and finishing at West Ham United FC, visiting 40 football grounds along her route.

Charlie has raised over £25,000 for Women's Aid so far, and is urging Barnsley FC fans to show their support to show that they too are united against domestic violence. To sponsor Charlie visit www.justgiving.com/charliesbigchallenge or text CBC to 70300* to donate £3. By the time Charlie reaches the Oakwell Stadium she will have already covered 110 miles, and having the support of Reds fans will really spur her on to reach the finish line.

Charlie said: "I am proud to be taking on this challenge to raise money for Women's Aid and to work with Barnsley FC to raise awareness of domestic violence. The work that Women's Aid does is vital in helping one in four women and hundreds of thousands of children who experience abuse to receive the support they so desperately need. I hope that Barnsley fans will get behind my challenge, and I’m hugely grateful to have your support."

To follow Charlie's progress go to www.facebook.com/charliesbigchallenge. Charlie will set off on another leg on her journey at 6:45am on Wednesday 29th January from Oakwell.

*Texts cost £3 plus your standard network text charge. Women's Aid (registered charity number 1054154) will receive 100% of the donation.
