Danny's Chester Reaction

16 December 2014

Barnsley booked their place in Round Three of the FA Cup after a dominant performance and 3-0 win at Chester in their second round replay this evening.

the game to Barnsley Player, Reds boss Danny Wilson said, afterSpeaking "The first game was too close for comfort and we needed a strong performance tonight and we got one,” said Wilson.

Kane Hemmings opened the scoring in the first half before Dale Jennings bagged a fine brace after the break.

“I think we could have won by a lot more than the three.”

“We’ve defended from the front. We set off in the first 30 seconds of the game with a ball down the channel and Kane Hemmings got after it like a rabbit. He absolutely scampered after it and that was how we played - really high tempo and we passed the ball really well.

“With all due respect, we could have won more than we did. But we’ll take three goals, particularly away from home, in what was a potential banana skin for us.

“It was fantastic from start to finish - nobody can complain about how we did it.

“They’ve responded very well and very professionally. They’ve given the fans a great performance today and that’s all we can ask for.”

“I think the three goals we did score were exceptional but people will talk about the last one and his (Dale Jennings) jinking run,” added Wilson. “It was a good performance from Dale but it was a fantastic performance all-round - attacking-wise and defensively.
