The Norwegian started up front for his country against Switzerland on Tuesday, as part of his nation's World Cup Qualifier, but was withdrawn on 22 minutes having sustained a gashed foot.
Reds Manager David Flitcroft said, "I spoke to him just after the game, about half-twelve at night, he was fresh from what had happened and completely gutted.
"He'd got himself into a real good state.
"He's gutted he's not going to be available.
"The best protocol would be to leave him in Norway.

"We've left him over in Norway to get his head round it and get his head right. We're monitoring it from this end.
"It's a big blow for Marcus more than us at the minute. He loves it here and he loved what we're about. It's took him maybe a couple of weeks to adapt.
"It's on his arch of his foot. It's a wound that could potentially open on any impact.
"I think he'll be back in training next Thursday-Friday, but quite light."
