Barnsley’s latest recruit Jack Butland is up for the challenge of helping the Reds up the league table, having just arrived on loan from Stoke City.
The England international looks likely to feature against Leicester City this weekend, with Luke Steele picking up a back injury earlier this week.
Speaking to Barnsley Player after penning his 93-day loan move, Jack said. “I’m really excited. It’s been a tough start to the season and I’ve not played as many times as I would have liked. I’ve worked hard, trained hard and I’m really looking forward to coming here and putting the efforts I’ve put in on training pitch onto the match pitch.
“It’s the most important thing (playing games). It’s where you learn, where you learn from your mistakes and where you pick up experience.
“I knew from the moment I joined Stoke, I didn’t expect going to walk straight into the first-team. I’m still young and I’m still learning. Coming to Barnsley is the next step and a new challenge.
“Having spoken to the manager and Ian the goalkeeping coach, I got a good fell from everyone here. It’s been a tough start to the season but I really liked what the Manager had to say and I’m looking forward to help turning it around.”
