Butland Joins Barnsley

Barnsley have completed the signature of England international goalkeeper on an emergency 93-day loan from Stoke City.

Bristol-born Butland started out with Birmingham City, and impressed out on loan with Cheltenham Town before taking over the number one spot at his parent club Blues.

Such was his form at St Andrew’s, Stoke City paid out a reported £3.5million for his services in January this year and then allowing the ‘keeper to head back on loan to Birmingham.

The 20-year-old, who made his senior England debut against Italy last year, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match at Leicester with current number one Luke Steele out with a back injury.
