Reds defender Scott Wiseman made his 100th appearance for Barnsley on Saturday against Middlesbrough, and he’s hoping his side can repeat the result for the visit of local rivals Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
“It’s always a pressure fixture a local derby but this is what you’re in football for,” he said.
“If you’re not going to enjoy it on a Saturday you’re in the wrong game.
“I’m a Yorkshire lad and I like to see Yorkshire clubs doing well, but as long as they’re not doing better than us.
“You have to take your chance in this league. Hopefully we can on Saturday.
“It’s all about your character and who is going to stand up.
“It’ll be fast-paced with a lot of passion shown. You’ve got to stand tall and stand proud and stand toe-to-toe with them (Sheffield Wednesday).”
Regarding his century of appearances, “I was made aware of it before the match but it’s something that I’ll maybe look back on later on in my career.”
