A look ahead to Tuesday's Under 21 Premier League Cup match
Bolton Wanderers will play host to Barnsley on Tuesday evening (7pm kick off) in the Under 21 Premier League Cup.Bolton were automatically placed in the opening round of 32 teams whereas Barnsley came through the second qualifying round against Leeds United 4-3 in extra time.
Bolton enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Bury last Tuesday in their final Manchester FA Senior Challenge Cup group match. The previous week they lost 3-1 to Fulham in a Barclays Premier League Under 21 game.
In the Barclays Premier League Under 21 Bolton currently lie 20th out of 22 teams having secured just one victory in their opening seven matches, that coming against Blackburn Rovers in September.
Bolton are set to name a similar side to that which started against Bury, with the likes of Jan Gregus, Zach Clough and Tom Youngs set to feature.
Barnsley's last outing resulted in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of local rivals Sheffield United. The Reds also lost by the same scoreline to Sheffield Wednesday, but have enjoyed two victories over Leeds United, 3-0 in the U21 PD League and 4-3 in the Cup competition and 4-1 wins over both Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest.
In all Barnsley have scored 22 goals in their seven competitive fixtures this season.
Barnsley will be without Reuben Noble-Lazarus who is currently on loan to Scunthorpe United and Danny Rose is out injured, but Paul Heckingbottom will field a strong side with Paul Digby back fresh from England Under 19 duty in Hungary and three experienced first team players amongst the squad.
The match will take place on Tuesday 19th November at the County Ground (Lancashire FA), Leyland, PR25 2LF.
Kick-off is at 7pm and admission is £3 adults and £1 concessions.
Early indications are that we will have facilities to stream the match live on our YouTube channel if you cannot be there in person.
