Kennedy Signs Two Year Deal

28 May 2013

Tom Kennedy has signed a new deal that will keep him at Oakwell for a further two years. Kennedy joined Barnsley in September 2012 and made 28 appearances. His first appearance for the Reds was certainly an unforgettable one as Barnsley beat Birmingham City 5-0 at St. Andrews.

Kennedy becomes the second player to sign this summer with Jason Scotland already penning a one year deal this month.

David Flitcroft commenting on Tom Kennedy's new deal said, "Tom has superb Championship quality. He was unfortunate at Leicester City to be understudy to Paul Konchesky whose form was top drawer while TK was there which limited him to only a few Championship games.

"When he plays in a three he is our quarterback and his quality is outstanding. He is a player who will continue to get better with more Championship appearances.

"We brought TK in last season as cover for Scott Golbourne. That move stimulated incredible competition and Goldy's form at left back was the best in the Championship. TK's form when I took over at the start of the year was the most consistent of his career. Wherever I played him he was a credit to himself and the club.

"He has earned this two year deal at our club. I am always looking for players to improve on what they did last season and I have no doubt TK will improve and I am delighted to get his signature and to be able to work with him for the next two seasons."
