In second place was Chris O’Grady’s finish on the end of a lengthy piece of team-play against Huddersfield Town in the final match of the campaign, with David Perkins’ 20-yarder against Crystal Palace way back in October coming in third.

The midfielder’s fourth-minute strike sent the Reds on their way to a fine 2-0 victory over Steve Bruce’s side – where a victory would have secured Premier League football before their final match against Cardiff City.

Jacob Mellis’ thunderous strike against Hull City in the penultimate match of the season has scooped the 2012/13 Goal of the Season award, as voted for by Reds supporters.
