Flitcroft: One Last Push

2 May 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft met with the press ahead of Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town in the npower Championship.

“We’ve got Daws (Stephen Dawson) coming back and he’s champing at the bit. He will be in contention.

“Rory’s (Delap) having a fitness test as we speak, so Rory could be involved.

“Jacob Mellis has had a great week of training. We’re in good shape."

The Reds' destiny is in their own hands - if they win, they stay up. “I’ve been relaxed all the way through," he added.

“I’m delighted we’re in this position and delighted that the lads have given themselves a shot to stay in this division.

“Everyone up and down the land have done their predictions and everyone will be wrong again.

“We can only affect what we can do. We only control this game.

“We’ve been in this situation for 20-odd games, it’s just another situation for us.

“My connection to the fans and the fans’ connection to the players, I believe has been something that has inspired me and motivated me at times.

“We’ve got to remain focussed. We’re making sure the players who can play and are fit are focussed. It takes hard work and meticulous planning.

“This group wants to focus on themselves and it’s important we do that.

“I’ve said from day one I’ll give it my best shot and people can’t ask for any more from you.

“The strikers, whoever mark picks, are in-form and they’re good strikers. They get the ball up to them quick, they’re quite direct, which might have something to do with the state of the pitch.

“But it’s a game where we’ll focus what we’re about. It’s something we’re working quite hard at on Oakwell this week to put in place.

“It’s going to be a massive day, whatever happens.”
