This flagship government initiative is a real opportunity for young people in Years 11 & 12 to stand out from the crowd in their future education or employment plans with NCS recognised by colleges, universities and employers as a real personal development achievement. NCS lets young people get ahead by giving them fresh experiences, leadership and team building skills and above all – a good time!
2 week-long outward bound (4 nights at each), team-building residential facing physical challenges such as abseiling, climbing, survival skills and lots more!
Spend time learning new skills and planning a project for their local community
Deliver a project which will make a difference in their own area
Through all of this they are supported by a team leader and mentor who guide them in their achievements, and help them learn about themselves and their local community.
Away Residential (Shropshire) – 22nd July 2013- 26th July 2013
Home Residential (Barnsley or Doncaster) – 29th July 2013 - 2nd August 2013
30 hours additional to deliver your social action project (e.g. help renovate a local football club, organise a fund raising event, spend time in a residential home for the elderly etc) This will have to be completed by the end of the school holiday and can be over a few weeks or condensed into a week)
On completion of the social action project the students will attend a graduation/celebration event and receive a certificate signed by David Cameron.
The cost for the full project is £50 per person this includes all accommodation, food and activities for 2 weeks. £25 will be refunded on completion of the project.
