The tie will be played Tuesday 6th August 2013, kick-off 7.45pm.
The two sides have only met in the League Cup twice before in a two legged first round fixture in 1980. The Reds won the home tie 2-1 with Banks and Glavin on the scoresheet in front of a 8,430 crowd. Barnsley also won the other leg 1-0 at Scunthorpe.
Scunthorpe United were relegated last season to League Two falling just three points off the safety zone.
