Barnsley Under 18s' pre-season kicked off in the blistering heat on Oakwell's Academy Complex against Scunthorpe United.
Nine new first-years enjoyed their first run out as scholars, drawing 1-1 with the Iron - both goals coming in the first half.
Josh Cooke netted the opener on 20 minutes after a great move down the right-hand side, but a stray back-pass on 30 minutes deceived Chadderton, meaning Moore notched an own goal.
The Under 18s' next match is in two weeks' time, as Burnley visit Oakwell.
