Nyatanga Returns to Oakwell

9 July 2013

Barnsley have completed the signing of defender Lewin Nyatanga on a free transfer – after the Welshman agreed a two-year deal with the Reds.

Lewin, who turns 25 next month, will be familiar to the Oakwell faithful having spent no less than three loan spells with the Reds six years ago.

A full international with Wales, Lewin began his career with Derby County and enjoyed loan spells with Sunderland and the Reds before heading to Bristol City in 2009 – where he made more than a century of appearances.

The Reds’ newest arrival told Barnsley Player, “I’ve got really fond memories of my time here.

“I’ve spoken with the Manager and he’s so passionate about what they’re trying to do here. I’ve bought into that and I’m coming here with a lot of motivation to help push this club up.”
