Good to be Back - Lewin

9 July 2013

The Reds today welcomed former loanee Lewin Nyatanga back to Oakwell after the Welsh international penned a two-year deal for David Flitcroft’s side.

Speaking to Barnsley Player, Lewin said, “I’ve got really fond memories of my time here.

“I was only 18 and it was a fantastic experience.

“Every year (since) I’ve learned so much. Every year has been a different experience with how to deal with ups and downs.

“I’ve spoken with the Manager and he’s so passionate about what we’re trying to do here. I’ve bought into that and I’m coming here with a lot of motivation to help push this club up.

“We had a great chat. He spelled out what he’s trying to do with the club.

“It’s definitely something I agree with and I can work with.”

Lewin played his part in the defeat of Barnsley at Ashton Gate last season, as he netted against the Reds for Bristol City. But the Welsh international will be aiming to keep goals out over the next two years.

“It’s all about momentum,” he continued. “That’s a great sign. We can start this season how we finished last.

“I hope I can help keep clean sheets, win games and win at set-plays as well.

“The team spirit here seems fantastic and that’s so important. The league is a tough league and everyone needs to stick together.

“I’m really excited to join.”
