Reds Manager David Flitcroft caught up with barnsleyfc.co.uk after the club captured the signature of French defender Jean-Yves M’voto.
“Jean is a player I have followed for a while and someone we came up against in League One,” said Flitcroft. “I think his agent made a great decision in getting him to stay at Oldham for a couple of seasons to get those games under his belt.”
Standing at 6ft 4’’, the defender started his career with Paris Saint-Germain and then switched to Sunderland in 2008.

“I had understood that he was signing for Doncaster a few weeks ago, but I got a call on Sunday to say he was still available and we were able to revive the deal and Ben (Mansford – Chief Executive) drove it through quickly.
“We had a great meeting with Jean on Monday and I feel he is a player we can help develop further. He has incredible physical attributes, power and pace and his style of play suits what we want. He is the type of player we want to recruit and Jean has come to the right club for where he is in his football life at the moment.”
M’voto was snapped up from Oldham – where he had made 123 appearances – and signed a two-year contract with the Reds yesterday.
