Flitcroft Pleased With Pre-Season Opener

12 July 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft spoke to the press after his side kicked off pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge.

"Over the two days as a training exercise it's been brilliant," said Flitcroft.

"In a prep game there's always competition. You've got to score in their net and try and not concede. It's a competition.

"A lot of great lessons have been learned, I enjoyed the game. It was played in the right manner and spirit but there was a competitive edge to it."

Chris Dagnall's strike was cancelled out in the first half, before 11 second-half changes saw a number of youngsters introduced.

"The lads who came out in the second half - incredible," he continued.

"They've (Club Brugge) got a week to go until they play and I wanted to gauge where we were at."
