"Over the two days as a training exercise it's been brilliant," said Flitcroft.
"In a prep game there's always competition. You've got to score in their net and try and not concede. It's a competition.
"A lot of great lessons have been learned, I enjoyed the game. It was played in the right manner and spirit but there was a competitive edge to it."
Chris Dagnall's strike was cancelled out in the first half, before 11 second-half changes saw a number of youngsters introduced.
"The lads who came out in the second half - incredible," he continued.
"They've (Club Brugge) got a week to go until they play and I wanted to gauge where we were at."
