Flitcroft: Just The Test We Wanted

25 July 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft caught up with the press following tonight's friendly with Bordeaux at Oakwell.

"It was just the test we wanted. I've just said to the lads, we could have gone to a non-league team and scored four, conceded none and got nothing from it.

"What a challenge for the players like Sam Patt (Patterson), they're quality because they sacrifice everything to get to that level of quality.

"I enjoyed the match. I've got loads to think about tonight and look."

Making his first appearance as a Red was Jean-Yves M'voto, who put in a good display at centre-back, impressing boss Flitcroft, "Jean who has come in and had a great night," he said. "I was more interested in how he'd settle with the lads. I was delighted with his and Craines' partnership.

"I've had some good looks at where we need to be. We gave them problems with the 3-4-3.

"The players that we've recruited, even though they're projects, they're displaying high quality.

"I can see the sharpness coming, there's still a lot to work on but we're in a good place.

"I'm getting quite excited about the build-up to the Wigan game."
