Flitcroft From Spain

4 July 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft, speaking to Barnsley Player from the club’s pre-season training camp, has told of his ‘delight’ with the squad’s effort under the Spanish sun.

“Certainly since I’ve took over I’ve been delighted with the application of the players,” he said.

“This pitch is the best I’ve ever been on and the training camp is absolutely brilliant.

“The heat’s gone up so we’ve had to look at training times.

“We train in the morning then have five hours of recovery. There’s enough recovery during the day, which is important.

“I want an energy and enthusiasm around the session.

“There’s an optimism and enthusiasm from the lads that we all thrive on.”

Despite being far from home, the Barnsley boss still has one eye on recruitment, “I’m in constant contact with Ben (Mansford – Chief Executive) and we’ve had some great conversations about recruitment,” he continued.

“After training at night time, we’re working until about 11 o’clock at night over the recruitment side of the game.

“We’re trying to invite players out Thursday and Friday. And we’re taking a look at a player out here.
