“You want to keep an unbeaten run going. Wins breed confidence and we’ll take that into Tuesday.”

“The ‘keeper pulled off two or three great saves but it landed to me perfectly,” he added. “So it’s nice to get that bit of luck and score a goal.

The Reds’ goal came after three bites of the cherry – O’Brien, and two Golbourne efforts blocked before ‘Daggers’ found the net.

“The back three or five were great for us. To come in at half time with a clean sheet was a big plus for us.”

“The lads put a good shift in, we’ll take the win and it was nice to get a goal.

Although it wasn’t pretty at first yesterday at the KC Stadium, the Tykes dug in and managed to grind out the result.

“I’d take Liverpool at Anfield all day long,” smiled Dagnall. “But it’s a long shot – you never know, any of the big teams will do!”
