Reds Benefit From Intense Training Camp

27 February 2013

The Barnsley FC team have been making the most of their warm weather training camp in Spain by working double sessions ahead of an important week of fixtures for the football club.

The first class facilities at the Spanish base has afforded an excellent opportunity for the coaching staff to fit in extra sessions each day to help with fitness and conditioning as well as technical aspects on the pitch.

Tuesday morning’s pool session with Guy Proctor was, as Luke Steele put it, “one of the hardest sessions I have ever done.”

A tough pool session for the Reds

The training camp has also been a great opportunity to assess the dynamics of the squad and for everyone get to know the newer players such as Ryan Tunnicliffe, Rory Delap and Chris O’Grady better and vice versa.

David Flitcroft commenting on the importance of their week’s work so far said, “The intensity and tempo of each session has been good and the players’ attitude and application of what we are doing has been excellent. They are fully committed to what we are asking of them and you can see that in how they have given 100 per cent to the sessions.”

The squad will come back together at Oakwell on Thursday to continue their preparation for the Bolton Wanderers match on Saturday.
