O'Grady on Charlton Clash

15 August 2013

Reds striker Chris O'Grady spoke to the press ahead of Saturday's visit of Charlton to Oakwell.

The forward says last season's 6-0 defeat is perfect motivation to get things off to a winning start.

"It was a catalyst to spur us on and allowed us to do what we did," said O'Grady. "We’ll use it as our motivation this time.

"I know they’ve had a bad start like us but it’s all about us. We’ll go into this like any other game, give them the respect they deserve like any other game."

O'Grady and his team-mates may not have found the net yet, but he insists they won't reach for the panic button.

“I’m just wanting to give what I gave last season and I believe I’m doing that so far," he continued. "It’s not quite panned out so far.

“Goals will come with that and results will come with that.

“Hopefully we’ll be looking back in a month’s time and this little period will show that it does take time to sort of find your feet again.

“We have the same players we did last season, so i believe we can score goals.

“I’ve been playing the game long enough to know what it’s like as a striker when things aren’t going so well. It’s important not go get too down.

“We’ve had three games without scoring a goal but it can turn around just as quick.”
