Flitcroft's Charlton Reaction

16 August 2013

Barnsley Manager David Flitcroft caught up with the press after today's 2-2 draw with Charlton at Oakwell.

“Every point you earn is hard earned,” he said. “I’m disappointed we’ve not got the three.

“Our linkage from defenders to midfielders to attack was good.

“When the goal went in for 2-1 I saw a mental relapse and that’s something we’ll work on.

“Charlton were energised by the goal.

“At 2-1 you’re trying to seal the deal and make sure you don’t concede but we did.

“Two goals and he could have had two more quite easily. They threw their life on the line.

“We created a lot of chances today. Goldy (Scott Golbourne) and Jim O’Brien getting crosses in.

“There’s a lot of positives to take from today, there’s no doubt about that.”

David Perkins was withdrawn early on having suffered from a dead leg. “He’s taken the tackle and it was a big impact,” said Flitcroft of Perkins. “We’ll know more tomorrow when we assess that.

Meanwhile, the search for fresh blood continues and the Reds boss is positive about adding new faces next week, “I’m starting to see movement now,” he added. “We’ve been fishing for a bit now and we’ll probably catch someone this week.”
