England Call For Digby

15 August 2013

Barnsley midfielder Paul Digby has today been called up to the England Under 19s squad.

The 18-year-old will join the Young Lions for their match with Estonia, which takes place on Thursday 5th September.

Former Reds Coach Noel Blake's England side are aiming for a place at the 2014 European Championship, and Digby will team up for the match in Tallinn on Thursday 5th September.

An over-the-moon Digby told barnsleyfc.co.uk "I'm thrilled and feel extremely honoured to have been selected to play for my country. It's every boy's dream and something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity and can't wait to play alongside England's best. After watching Stonesy (John Stones) the other night and seeing how much he's improved and how well he's progressed through the England age groups in such a short space of time, it gives me great inspiration to want to do well. I'm going to enjoy the experience and make the most of it."

Digby made his senior début as a 16-year-old in September 2011, becoming the club's fourth youngest ever player to pull on the red jersey.
