Young Reds Defeat Crewe

8 April 2013

Barnsley’s Under 21s defeated Crewe Under 21s 2-1 today on the Oakwell Academy Complex.

A John Rooney penalty and a well worked Rhys Oates goal sandwiched a solitary goal from the Alex – who had veteran striker Nathan Ellington in their ranks. Speaking to barnsleyfc.co.uk, Reds Coach Paul Heckingbottom said, “We did well in the first half. We, maybe, forced it a bit too much and we were pushing too soon for that killer ball in the second half. But, overall, I’m pleased with how we have improved on the performance against Sheffield United last week.”

The Under 21s are next in action against Crewe once more, at the Alexandra Stadium, next Monday.
