Steele 'Delighted With The Lads'

28 April 2013

Reds goalkeeper and Captain Luke Steele didn’t have much to do against promotion-chasing Hull City yesterday, but was delighted with his side’s effort to keep a clean sheet whilst earning three points.

“I’m delighted with the lads,” Steele told barnsleyfc.co.uk. “I didn’t have too much to do but the lads were fantastic. We’ve played through injuries and I couldn’t have asked for any more - A clean sheet and three points to end our home campaign.

“There have been so many players in this team who have been down and out and have bounced back.

“Look at January 1st, it was doom and gloom but we’ve pulled it back amazingly.

“There have been so many games where I’ve tried to say how proud I am of all the players – it’s about everybody at Barnsley Football Club and we’ve given ourselves a massive chance.”

Next Saturday the Reds visit Huddersfield Town knowing a win will secure their Championship status.

“I’ve not played there for Barnsley and I’m sure they’d want to put us down but we will try and stop them from doing that,” he continued.

“It will be a great occasion. Today’s been a great day and we’ve done amazing this year but it’s not over yet.”
