Flitcroft on Charlton

12 April 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft met with the media ahead of tomorrow's home clash with Charlton.

"The progress they’ve made under Chris (Powell) has been superb,” said Flitcroft of tomorrow's visitors.

“Like a lot of teams from League One they’ve come up with great momentum.

“They’ve been better away from home than they have at home. Like any team, they’ve got quality.

“It’s another tough test. The lads have enjoyed training, they’re looking forward to games and they’re looking forward to playing Charlton.

“I’ve got a lot of admiration for Chris and the way he goes about his business.

“It doesn’t take a genius to work out that nothing in this league is guaranteed, whoever you are or wherever you are.
“There’s no doubt it’s going to be a tough fixture.
“Charlton have got a lot on this game and we’ve got a lot on it ourselves.”

The Reds have won seven out of their last eight matches at Oakwell, and Flitcroft acknowledges the input of the home supporters.

“The Barnsley fans are a hardworking public,” he continued. “They’ve had troubles, strife and tough times. They want to come on a Saturday and release some positive energy. There’s been no negativity since I took over. They’ve carried the momentum on.

“The positivity has been two-fold, it’s come out of the terraces and onto the pitch.

“There’s still a lot to play for. It’s turning out to be a real exciting finish.”
