After a thrilling 6-5 victory in the Under 18 fixture between these two teams, it was the Under 21s’ turn for action and the goals certainly didn’t dry up.

Leicester U21s 5
Barnsley U21s 2

Leicester City battled back from a two-goal deficit to run out 5-2 winners on a miserable afternoon at the Oakwell Academy Complex with both sides fielding strong teams.

Danny Rose pounced to give the Reds a lead on 13 minutes following a neat one-two between Sam Patterson and Matt Done down the left.

It was two on 26 minutes when an own goal doubled Barnsley’s lead from a Reuben Noble-Lazarus cross.

The visitors pulled one back as Harry Panayiotou headed home from a corner and it wasn’t long before Dobie curled home a smart 25-yard free-kick for the leveller.

City came at the Reds and Steele was forced into a great save moments before Waghorn’s cool finish on 42 minutes gave his side the advantage.

After the break Matty Done went through only to scoop over the bar following a splendid dink over the top to send his strike partner in on goal.

After Toni Silva was withdrawn via the stretcher, his replacement Clark disposed the defender before hammering straight at Logan when one-on-one on 69 minutes.

Barnsley couldn’t find the breakthrough and Leicester added two more through Waghorn who completed his hat-trick. His second coming via a simple tap-in before despatching smartly off the post from 15 yards in the 84th minute.
