Silva: I'll Do My Best Here

Silva Speaks After Arrival...

Keith Hill landed a real coup with Liverpool’s young Portuguese winger Toni Silva signing for the Reds on a two-year deal earlier this week. The 18-year-old gave his thoughts to Barnsley Player after becoming Keith Hill’s fifth signing of the summer.

“I feel great,” said Silva. “It’s a good chance to play in the Championship. Basically I’m happy because the Manager trusts me. I need to try my best, work hard and see what can happen.

“I’m a winger and I will try to do my best, I like to play with the ball and I will play to help the team and help myself.

“Everyone likes to score and wants to win. I’m going to do my best. It doesn’t matter if I score, as long as I play well and the team play well and we win. I will try to do the best for the team and myself.

“I think this is a good club and it’s where I can show my quality, try my best here and listen to the coach.

“I think it’s a good idea to get players from reserves for Championship teams and League One, I’m not going to say at Liverpool every young player to do what I’ve done, everyone has an idea, this is my idea - the best way to start fresh and see what can happen.”

There have already been comparisons drawn with the last Portuguese winger’s impact for the Reds, Ricardo Vaz Te, as Silva added, “I know about Vaz Te. I never met him but I heard about him. Some people told me about him and I’ve seen him play - he’s a very good player. I know he did great here so I hope I do the right thing like he was doing.”
