Reds boss delighted with squad so far
Keith Hill speaks to Barnsley Player after the first few days in the Reds’ Spanish training camp.
“Before we came away we really got our base-work in to check where the payers are,” he said.
“We haven’t had any injuries so far. Reuben went over slightly on his ankle but he should be okay by tomorrow.
“We are doing football-specific endurance work. The players are bang on, they’re fit!
“A lot of last year’s work is now evident in the players.
“For the likes of Jacob Mellis, Kelvin Etuhu and Mido, it’s catch-up for them. And it’s getting them to a place where they’re comfortable in what we’re trying to achieve.
“I’m enthusiastic about the squad that we’ve got but I do want to add to the squad, maybe one-two, possibly three because I want us to withstand the whole of the season. That was the major lesson learnt of last season. Come January we didn’t have a deep enough squad.
“It’s probably the easiest time as a Manager, the stress levels are pretty low. Every ball that you kick hasn’t really got any significance on it, it’s all preparation and development.
“We’re a year on now and we’re comfortable with each other, it’s just a question of adding.”
