22 August 2012

Stonesy's reaction to England U19s call-up

Managed by former Tykes coach Noel Blake, the young Lions will face Germany’s Under 19s in Hamburg ahead of October’s first qualifying Round for the 2013 European Championship.

“I’ve just looked at the squad and there’s some quality players so it should be good to feature alongside them in Germany against such a good team.”

“To play for your own country is the biggest honour and I think everyone dreams about playing for their country so I can’t describe how it’s going to feel.

“It’s a massive honour and a massive privilege for me. It’s all happening so fast I can’t describe it.” The 18-year-old to barnsleyfc.co.uk

Reds youngster John Stones has only just made his full debut this season, as well as notching his first senior goal, but the Barnsley-born defender has already been called up to the England Under 19s squad for a friendly next month.
