Perkins Praises Fellow Players

13 August 2012

Perks praises Stones, Dagnall and Hassell...

“When Daggers (Chris Dagnall) came on he worked his socks off. He was prepared to run in behind. The subs made a real impact when they came on.

“You couldn’t’ write it, could you? It’s tremendous. Bobby’s come on and he’s pulled off some great saves.”

After the dismissal of Alnwick, Bobby Hassell chose to go in goal as the Reds had used all three substitutes before Chris Dagnall struck twice in extra time to seal the win.

“Ben (Alnwick) will be disappointed with what he’s done. We’ve no need to tell him what he’s done wrong.”

“Stonesy’s (John Stones) been absolutely magnificent. He’s really quality and it shows, it was good to see him get on the end of a good cross.

“Once we got into the game, I think we pretty much dominated it.”

“It was a great game to play in,” Perkins told Barnsley Player. “I really enjoyed it. Rochdale came at us and I think they surprised us a little bit.

The Reds’ number 11 played a vital role with his energy up and down the park - proving pivotal to the victory at Spotland.

David Perkins returned to former club Rochdale on Saturday to help the Reds to a dramatic 4-3 victory after extra time in the first round of the Capital One Cup. “The fans were absolutely tremendous. We’ll need that home and away this season. It was great to hear them getting behind the lads and the Manager.”
