Hill on Bristol City

Reds boss to take stock of injuries after Robins test

Reds Manager Keith Hill met with the media ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Bristol City.

“We’re going to assess it (the injury situation) during the international break,” said Hill. “It gives us a break and time to think about the possibility of dipping into the loan market.

“It’s been that horrific me and Flicker have been injured as well!

“We’ve looked at every possible reason for the injuries, we’ve even gone as far to look at the type of cars the players are driving and the distance they’re travelling each day.

“We’ve sort advice off other Premier League clubs, sports science departments and they came up with types of car and seating positions for the duration of the journey.

“We can’t find the reason or one specific reason for the types of injury we’re incurring.

“I’m optimistic for the squad of players that we’ve accumulated. I believe we can make an impact on the Championship.”

Bristol City arrive at Oakwell having hit eight goals in the league over their last two games – yet another difficult opponent as Hill assessed Derek McIness’ side.

“They’ve spent money,” said Hill. “Sam Baldock, Davies, retaining Wolford and Adomah – you name it. Money buys you quality for whatever league that you’re in – anything else you’re trying to over-achieve. It makes a Manager’s job easy when you’ve money to spend on recruitment.

“They’ve started well. They've started with confidence and are scoring goals. Confidence can affect elite players as well as anybody – it’s just about us, though.”
