Adam Armstrong joined the Reds on loan from Newcastle United at the end of the August transfer window. The loan deal is initially until January 2017. 

The fast-paced striker joins Barnsley with a growing reputation in football, having scored 20 goals during the 2015/16 season for League One side Coventry City. Armstrong has been capped at different England youth levels on 36 occasions, scoring an incredible 23 goals.

Paul Heckingbottom was delighted to secure the transfer of one of his main summer targets, commenting, "His talent and goal scoring abilities are clear to see as he was excellent in League One last season scoring a tonne of goals. We’ve started the season in great form, scoring a lot of goals and I have no doubts that Adam will make an instant impact and excite the fans.”
