SIMON Davey was appointed as Academy Manager at Barnsley Football Club in the summer of 2006.

The 35-year-old Welshman started his professional career with Swansea City in 1989, match 58 appearances for the Swans before joining Carlisle United three years later.

A popular figure at Brunton Park, Simon skippered the Cumbrians during his 137 games and his 23 goals tempted Preston to splash out £125,000 to secure his services in 1995.

Apart from a brief loan spell with Darlington in 1997, Simon spent the rest of his playing career at Deepdale, playing 122 times and netting 22 goals from midfield before retiring through injury.

Simon moved into coaching after hanging up his boots and worked with the youngsters at Preston under the watchful eye of current Everton boss David Moyes and former Scotland manager Craig Brown. He left Preston in the summer of 2005.

One of the most highly-qualified young coaches in the English game, Simon picked up his UEFA 'C' Licence, UEFA 'B' Licence, UEFA 'A' Licence before taking the UEFA 'Pro' Licence in 2005. He also holds the Academy Managers Licence and UEFA 'Youth Licence'.

Appointed caretaker manager at Oakwell on November 21, 2006 and handed the reigns permanently on December 31, 2006.

RYAN Kidd was appointed to assist then caretaker manager Simon Davey with coaching at Oakwell in early December 2006.

Born in 1971 in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Ryan Kidd started his professional career with Port Vale making a handful of appearances at Vale Park.

He moved to Preston North End in 1992 and went on to become a Lilywhites stalwart for most of the next decade, racking up well over 300 appearances at Deepdale. The tough tackling defender bagged eleven goals for North End before hanging up his boots in 2001.

The 35-year-old has been working as Centre of Excellence Manager at Bury Football Club since 2004.

KELHAM O'HANLON

KELHAM O'Hanlon has joined the backroom staff at Oakwell as first team coach in January 2006.

As a goalkeeper, Kelham started his professional career at Middlesbrough in the early 1980s and went on to make 87 first team appearances for Boro before joining South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United in 1985. He spent six years at Millmoor, clocking up almost 250 games for the Millers.

He joined up with Carlisle United in 1991, turning out 83 times in two years at Brunton Park before joining Preston North End for the first time two years later. After 14-months and 23 league games at Deepdale, Kelham was on the move again, signing for Dundee United in 1994.

Kelham spent two years north of the border, clocking up 31 games before rejoining Preston in 1996 to play alongside Reds boss Simon Davey. He made 14 appearances in his second spell at Deepdale before joining the Lilywhites coaching staff and was assistant manager during David Moyes time as boss. He enjoyed a brief spell as North End boss in 2002 following Moyes' switch to Everton.

His brief managerial career lasted just a month and he won four of his eight matches before Craig Brown's appointment at Deepdale. Kelham also worked as Brown's assistant. Kelham has had spells as assistant manager at Tranmere Rovers and Bury as well as working as first team coach with Hartlepool United and Chester City.

He enjoyed a professional career spanning almost 20 years and almost 500 matches.
