BARNSLEY FC's first team stars dropped by the Oakwell Study Support Centre to help publicise a decade of the Playing For Success Scheme and eight years of achievement at the Club.

The Oakwell Study Support Centre has been in place since 1998 and is very popular with youngsters all over the Borough with more than 2,000 passing through its doors over the years.

Speaking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Centre Manager Jean Wyatt commented: "We have an excellent relationship with the club and it is always a fantastic thing for our youngsters to meet their heroes. You only have to see the look on their faces when one of the first team players drops by for one of our presentation evenings.

"It means so much to them and they can learn a lot from listening to the players talk about the importance of keeping fit and team work".

The Playing For Success scheme at Oakwell has two dedicated centres at the club used to help local children throughout the school year.

Reds caretaker manager Simon Davey added: "We work very closely with the Study Support Centre and our players are delighted to drop by whenever we are asked. It is important to have such close links with the community and I am sure the players enjoy it as much as the children".
