IF WE WIN THE GAME WE ARE SAFE. WE WILL WORK AS HARD AS WE POSSIBLY CAN TO DO THAT - DAVEY
REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts ahead of the clash with Leicester City.
Simon said: "This is a massive game and it is a little ironic that our biggest game of the season is here against Leicester City as it was last year. Last season we lost the game but were still safe after Leeds went down now we have three matches to go and our destiny in our own hands.
"If we win the game we are safe. We will work as hard as we possibly can to do that. We need to be in the Championship next season. This is the biggest game of the lot this year and we will make sure we are ready. It is going to be some game.
"We started off the season looking to improve. We have a better squad. We have more points on the board already but that will count for nothing if we go down. The next step is to secure our Championship status and we want to do that tomorrow. We have done better in both cups and have more points. That is an improvement.
"We have virtually all the players here under contract this summer so there will not be massive changes. There is no mad rush to bring people in as there was last year and we will have a settled group who have been together for 12-months in this division should we stay in it.
"This is a very strong league. If you look at our squad then you will see that we have better players and have performed better this year but are still not safe yet. We have won more matches at home and have picked up some results on the road in the last week. This division is stronger throughout this year and it is very unpredictable. The competition throughout the division is better than ever and it is one of the greatest leagues in the world. There is the ultimate prize at the end of it and people will continue to improve and make it even stronger.
"We are already planning for next season and we know where we need to strengthen. Work has already started on that but we will still be going to finish the season with three wins against Leicester, Charlton and Cardiff. It is important to finish on a high and our season does not end if we beat Leicester on Saturday.
"We will strengthen this summer. I have read today that Mark Jones' agent has linked us with him but I have never even seen him play so that is a strange one. We will look to strength and will have new faces in the club but whether that takes three weeks or 12 is something we will have to answer in the summer. There will not be 14 or 15 new faces coming in this year.
"My players have been under the spotlight all year and they have proved that they can play at a higher level. I am sure that we will improve as a team next season as well if we stay in the Championship.
"Leicester City will come here for a fight that's for sure. We have to be prepared for that. It will be tough. It will be close but we have to come out on top.
"Brian Howard has not trained all week through sickness. He will have a go on Friday afternoon but am not expecting too much. He is very doubtful for the game.
"We have worries over Jamal (Campbell-Ryce), Kayode (Odejayi) and Lewin (Nyatanga) going into the game so we will have to see how they come through on Friday afternoon.
"We need the fans right behind us again. They can really help us win the game and they are the reason we have such a fantastic home record. We need them to come here in force and support us tomorrow".
