REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts ahead of the clash with Doncaster Rovers.

Simon said: "Hugo Colace missed Tuesday's game at Ipswich with an ankle injury and has not trained since. Hopefully he will come back in on Friday but we will have to monitor him for the weekend. Everybody else came through Tuesday's game fine.

"Reuben (Noble Lazarus) will be involved in the match day squad again on Saturday although I will have to see in what capacity. He is a quiet lad and it is hard to get much from him off the pitch but he lets his football do the talking on it. He has been fine since Tuesday but we have to make sure we continue to look after him. He has just turned 15 and has a lot to learn and a lot to go through. He is a terrific talent and, if we continue to manage him right, he will be a fantastic player.

"I have three kids - one only a year younger than Reuben - and you have to draw on things like that as a person and as a manager. Reuben has been thrust into the limelight this week but he deserves to be there. It was the right time to put him in. He is a talented player and we cannot hide that away. If he is good enough he will play but we have to make sure he is looked after in the right way.

"We have to make sure we continue to do things right and progress him in the right way. We have integrated him with the first team squad and he will continue to work with us two days a week. He will be involved on Saturday but then we might pull him out of the spotlight and he might be involved for a fortnight or so. He is still a child and we have to deal with it in the right way. We have to treat him right.

"We all know the Brian Howard situation now. He has been a fantastic servant to this club but it is time to look to the future. We have to look after what we have here. It is history now. I have no sympathy for a player who does not want to play for this club. I have always had a fantastic relationship with Brian but we now have to move on. We have to look to the future and that start for Barnsley Football Club on Saturday".

He added: "We have a fantastic game coming up against Doncaster Rovers and we need to bounce back. We performed well at Ipswich and created chances but just did not put them away again.

"We have to make sure we bounce back. What better game to do that in than a local derby here at Oakwell in front of our own supporters.

"As a manager I was thrown into the fire two years ago but at the end of the day you have you beliefs and principles. We know that we are doing the right thing; the staff know that and we believe that things will turn around. Results have been unacceptable and we all have to hold our hands up to that. We have to make sure we stick to our beliefs and make things turn around.

"I have not won a local derby yet. We are not stupid and we know the situation surrounding this game. Doncaster have not won in five games but neither have we so I am sure this place will be a fever pitch on Saturday. We will be going hell bent to win this game.

"We have two teams who both like to play good football. Neither have really finished their chances this season and have been conceding goals so it bodes well for a great game. We have to make sure that we win the battle and get three points.

"There is always going to be history between local rivals. This place will be like a coliseum come kick off time and we have to make sure we have the calmer heads and we play our game. Doncaster come here two points better off than us so we are the underdogs. We need three points on Saturday to start building again.

"It is about time I won a South Yorkshire derby. Hopefully that will start tomorrow".
