BARNSLEY Football Club has received a cash boost of over £58,000 from its main club sponsor - Barnsley Building Society.
The cash was presented to Club Director, Barry Taylor, at Saturday's match against Coventry City and was generated by the Club's savings accounts offered through the Society - The Reds Saver and Junior Reds Saver.
The Reds Saver account generated £57,676 throughout 2009, with the payment representing 1% of the average balances of the account over the year.A further £926 was generated through the Junior Reds Saver account, representing 0.5% of balances over the same period.
The money raised from the Reds Saver account will go directly to the Club and the money raised from the Junior Reds account will go towards funding the Club's Academy.
Both accounts offer great benefits for Barnsley fans.Reds Savers benefit from a 10% discount in the Club shop and priority booking on away tickets.Junior Reds Savers receive similar incentives and also have the chance of being a mascot and attending training days with the Academy. They also receive a signed birthday card from the team.
Rachel Gladman at Barnsley Building Society said: "The savings accounts we offer in partnership with Barnsley Football Club not only offer fantastic incentives for fans, but also benefit the Club itself and the young footballing talent rising through its Academy. We're delighted to present this payment to the Club and look forward to supporting it as keenly as its fans over the coming season!"
