MORE than 230 youngsters have opened a Junior Reds Saver account in the first ten days.

The Reds, together with our main club sponsor, Barnsley Building Society, launched the new affinity account last month and the response from supporters has been phenomenal. As of Monday afternoon (July 7), 234 new accounts had been opened with Barnsley Building Society.

Offering a great rate of interest at 4.50 per cent gross, as most savers won't be eligible for tax, and instant access to their balance, the Junior Reds Saver offers a great opportunity for parents to get their youngsters saving for their future.

What's more, account openers who place an opening balance of £35 or more into their account will receive a free 2008/2009 home shirt, while stocks last, which will form part of the campaign to paint the town red for the start of the season.

Marketing Manager for the Society, Samantha Cameron-Carruthers said: "We expected a level of interest, with this being a new account with a great incentive, but the actual demand at the branches and by phone has been really encouraging.

"The shirt launch incentive really is one not to be missed and we have been pleased to get to meet a number of the Junior Reds fans at the branches and get them started with a strong savings future.
