YOUNGSTER Reuben Noble-Lazarus made history by becoming the Club's, and the Football League's, youngest ever player - at the tender age of just 15 years and 45 days.
This first appearance for Reuben came away at Ipswich Town in September 2008.
The previous record holder was Alan Ogley, at 16 years and 226 days. Jamil Adam comes in next at 16 years 334 days, after making his bow against Cardiff City last season. Reuben is also now the Football League's youngest ever player. He beat the previous record holders Albert Geldard, of Bradford Park Avenue, and Ken Roberts, of Wrexham, both of whom made their first appearances aged 15 years and 158 days.
With no reserve team during 2009/2010, Reuben found opportunities to impress a little limited although he was in outstanding form during the second half of the campaign for the Academy side. A memorable goal at Derby County in the FA Youth Cup was the highlight of his season, although he did add two further first team appearances to his tally in the closing months.
A talented attacker who is capable with the ball at either foot, Reuben has captained the Barnsley U18s on many occasions during the 2010/2011 campaign and has bagged some great goals for Ronnie Branson's young Reds.
As of the end of the 2010/2011 campaign, Reuben has made 11 first-team appearances, netting one goal - a brilliant, long-range winner against Millwall. In May of 2011, Reuben signed a two-year contract at Oakwell and looks set for a bright future in the game.
