An Academy graduate, central defender Luke Potter has had a stop-start career at Oakwell, but has showed glimpses of real potential.
Luke ended the 2006/2007 campaign on a high by making his full first team debut at West Brom. It capped a great year for the young defender, who looks set for bigger and better things at Oakwell. A regular with the reserves throughout 2007/2008, Luke found his first team opportunities limited although he did get some time on the pitch during a loan spell with Stafford Rangers.Luke spent the last few months of 2008/2009 on loan at Kettering, where he impressed during 22 games in the Blue Square Premier.
2009/2010 was looking like a frustrating campaign for Luke as he dropped down the pecking order despite some decent displays in three early appearances. However, the youngster never let his head drop and was called back into the first team fold in the Spring when injuries and suspensions threatened to derail the Reds. His response was fantastic and he performed admirably both at left back and in the heart of the Barnsley defence in the closing weeks of the season.
