BARNSLEY manager Mark Robins made Brighton's Liam Dickinson his fourth signing of the summer in early July 2010.
Born in Salford, Liam came up through the youth ranks at Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers before spending time in non-league football. He joined Stockport County in 2006 after impressing on trial and went on to become a hero at Edgeley Park, netting 35 times in 106 appearances and helping the Hatters to Play Off success and promotion from League Two.
A big money move to Derby County followed in 2008 with the Rams paying a substantial six-figure fee for his services. Although he found games hard to come by at Pride Park, Liam was a revelation on loan at Huddersfield in 2008, netting six goals in 13 games and again at Blackpool in the same campaign with four strikes in seven appearances at Bloomfield Road.
He spent time on loan again at Leeds United in the closing weeks of the 2008/2009 campaign before joining Brighton and Hove Albion that summer, hitting six goals in 31 games for the Seagulls. Liam was the man Peterborough turned to in a bid to save their Championship lives at the end of the 2009/2010 campaign and he netted three goals in nine matches as the Posh battled against the drop.
