TOBY GOES FOR WORLD CUP GLORY

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004
REDS mascot Toby Tyke has earned a shock call up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the World Cup after impressing boss Mick McCarthy.

Toby has been drafted into the final 23 as a replacement for Roy Keane, who was sent home in disgrace earlier this month.

Toby exclusively revealed to the Official Website: "Mick is an old friend of mine from his days at Oakwell and when he told me he wanted a midfield terrier, I had to offer my services.

"I actually qualify for the Republic of Ireland through an Irish half grandmother so I am really looking forward to playing for my country".

The Reds mascot has been pictured around the globe this summer as he bids to escape Tina following an incident with a blonde Swedish television personality earlier in May.
