FORMER Barnsley loan star Filipe Teixeira is on the look out for a new club after being released by West Bromwich Albion.
The Portuguese star impressed during his spell at Oakwell in the closing months of last season but will not be handed a contract extension by the Baggies following their promotion to the Premier League.
In a statement, the Hawthorns' side revealed:
ALBION have confirmed they have not taken up the further year's option on Filipe Teixeira's contract.
The Portuguese winger has been released and is now free to join a new club.
Teixeira made a £600,000 move to the Baggies from Academica de Coimbra in July 2007 and quickly became a fans' favourite thanks to his skilful midfield displays.
A cruciate ligament injury in March 2008 cut short his first season in England in which the club won promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
He returned to action eight months later but struggled to pin down a regular place in the team.
Teixeira joined Barnsley on loan for the final three months of last term and made 14 starts for the Tykes.
Baggies sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth said: "Filipe is a good pro and gave everything for Albion.
"He had a fantastic first season with the club in the Coca-Cola Championship until he got injured.
"After that it was difficult for him to get a run in the team.
"We'd like to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future."
In total, Teixeira made 62 Albion appearances, including 24 as a substitute, and scored five times.
