City have agreed the signing of Barnsley winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce for an undisclosed fee, subject to medical.

The 26-year-old arrives on a two-and-a-half year contract and will go into City's squad for the first time next Tuesday for the Championship match with Cardiff City - given he is cup-tied in the FA Cup.

The Jamaican international began his footballing life at Charlton Athletic, and enjoyed career loan stints at Leyton Orient, Wimbledon and Chesterfield.

A move to Rotherham United came in 2004, where he spent two seasons and made 32 appearances.

After loan spells with Essex rivals Southend United and Colchester United, he opted for a permanent deal with the former club.

Then he switched to Barnsley in 2007, where he played 100 times, scoring 13 goals.
