THE first 'Boots for Africa' donation was made at Hillsborough this week as part of the Sodje family charity appeal.
Sheffield Wednesday fans Mike and Joshua Woolley were the first to donate their boots as part of the appeal and were met at Hillsborough by Oakwell new boy Onome Sodje, who will play in the game on July 26.
Former Owls player John Pearson, who met the pair at the ground, said; "Mike's idea of collecting boots on the day of the Sodje game is brilliant. We hope that other fans can dig out, and clean, their old boots to bring down to the ground."
"Hopefully we can collect plenty of pairs of boots for the cause, as well as raising money for The Children's Hospital Charity and the Sodje Sports Foundation."
Onome Sodje, nephew of Owls' striker Akpo, was also onhand to collect the generous donation, following a busy week which saw the striker sign for local rivals Barnsley.
Onome - along with his uncles Akpo, Sam, Bright, Steve and Efe Sodje - will feature in the charity game, which is bound to attract Tykes fans who want to see him in action before the season starts.
Supporters are reminded that tickets are selling fast for this game, priced at just £5 per person of any age. Visit www.swfc.co.uk for more.
